Water and Light Series
I spent the first years of my life living near the water on the shores of Lake Michigan watching the sky. I spent hours laying on my back looking up at clouds and seeing things in them. A day without a visit to the beach wasn't a good day whether it was winter, spring, summer or fall. Today, I live 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles, California. Every day that I went to my old studio, in Venice, I drove down Ocean Park Blvd to 4th street and took the bridge over the road to my Vernon Avenue studio which had a straight shot view to the ocean. Every day was different. I was able to continue my love of the water and the atmosphere that built over the shore. Different things impressed me: the amazing experience of a red tide with its florescent glow seen best at night, marine layer that obfuscates the edges of the shore from the horizon, the fresh sunshine reflecting on the water in sparkling notes.
