Between Light & Dark

Driving totally alone in the predawn through the vast wilderness that claims eastern Utah, I came around a bend, on a rather rough two track road, trying to keep my car from bouncing off potholes and my eyes glued on the road in front of me.  I looked up to straighten my trajectory after the curve to see the beginnings of dawn breaking.   Stretched out before me were looming massive red rocks, the Colorado river, and the sun just breaking the horizon line.  It was not light, nor was it dark, a deer was swimming from one side of the river to the other.

I couldn't breathe for the beauty.
